Experience Every Moment

Some journeys begin before you decide to take them

Discover

All moments — past, present
and future — have always existed
and always will exist.

Here, we do not experience time as you do. We see it the way you might see a stretch of mountains — all of it visible at once, every peak and valley equally present, equally real. We invite you to see it that way too. Guests arrive, and depart, and arrive again. So it goes. And yet every moment here remains, waiting to be revisited, because it never left.

Tralfamadore has always been here. It will always be here. Our transparent observation domes allow guests to live in full view of the landscape and community — observed and observing in turn. We believe there is no act more intimate, or more generous, than truly seeing another being. Our guides will help you perceive reality in four dimensions. Most visitors arrive seeing only three. All of them leave seeing more.

4 Dimensions perceived — we count time as the fourth
1 Continuous moment — there is only ever one
Returning guests — they all return

The Geodesic Domes

Each dome is a transparent geodesic structure furnished with everything you need. Fully visible from all angles, open to the sky and to the gaze of our community. Many guests find this unsettling at first. All of them come to understand it as a form of reverence.

The Pilgrim Dome

For the traveller between moments

Our original and most beloved accommodation. Furnished with everything you need from your home world — a bed, a kitchen, a writing desk. Fully visible from all angles. Guests report a profound sense of being truly seen, perhaps for the first time. Some describe feeling transported. All of them are correct.

$469 / night

The Rosewater Dome

Impossibly generous

Everything you didn't know you needed, provided before you ask. The Rosewater was designed around a single principle: uncomplicated kindness. King bed, freestanding copper tub, and a library curated to make you feel that someone, somewhere, cares deeply about you. They do.

$519 / night

The Montana Dome

Ideal for couples, or those who wish to become one

Our most intimate accommodation. The Montana is favoured by pairs — and for guests arriving alone, a companion may be arranged upon request. The dome contains everything two people could need. Some guests report never wanting to leave. Some haven't.

$749 / night

The Rumfoord Dome

For those who already know they will enjoy their stay

Our grandest dome. Two bedrooms, a private observation platform, and an atmosphere of predestination — as though it was always waiting for precisely you. Guests who book the Rumfoord often tell us they knew they would, long before they did.

$849 / night

Ways of Seeing

Each experience is designed to gently alter your relationship with time, perception, and self. No two visits are alike — though, from a certain perspective, they are all the same visit.

Signature

The Observation

Our defining experience. Live your day — eat, bathe, exercise, rest — while being appreciated by our community. Many cultures observe; few have elevated it to an art form. You will be watched with care and genuine fascination. Clothing optional.

Full day · Included with all dome stays
Workshop

Becoming Unstuck

A guided practice in non-linear consciousness. Participants frequently report experiencing moments from their past and future with vivid simultaneity. Some find this disorienting. Others recognise it as how things have always been. Light refreshments provided at all points in time.

4 hours · $285 per person
Dining

The Dresden Room

Our signature dining experience. Seasonal fire cuisine served in our subterranean stone chamber, built in 1945. What was destroyed has been made beautiful. The menu changes with the cycles, but the warmth is constant. Everything here has been through the flames and is better for it.

5-course tasting · $195 per person
Perception

Fourth-Dimensional Seeing

A workshop in perceiving time as a physical dimension. You will learn to see living beings not as they appear in a single moment, but as they truly are — long luminous forms stretching through time, with infant limbs at one end and elderly limbs at the other. It is very beautiful.

3 hours · $185 per person
Library

The Kilgore Collection

An extensive library of speculative fiction by local and visiting authors. Browse works that imagine worlds very different from this one — though perhaps not as different as you'd think. Our most prolific contributor was commercially unsuccessful but remarkably prescient. The trout in the creek outside are named for him.

Open all hours · Complimentary
Perception

The Optometry Suite

An experience in corrected perception. You may not arrive needing new lenses. But you will see differently when you leave. Our practitioners work not with glass and frames, but with the assumptions that shape what you believe you are looking at. Results are permanent.

90 minutes · $145 per person

Wellness & Restoration

"Everything is beautiful here, and nothing hurts."
— The Harmonium Centre philosophy

Ice-Nine Cryotherapy

Our proprietary cold treatment reaches temperatures that fundamentally alter your molecular awareness. A brief, transformative exposure that clients describe as "the end of one state and the beginning of another." Once begun, the process is irreversible. In the best possible way.

$165

Bokononist Foot Ritual

An ancient practice of sole-to-sole connection. Two participants press the bare soles of their feet together while a practitioner guides shared meditation. Strangers often leave feeling they have known each other across lifetimes. Performed with another guest, or with one of our guides.

$140 per pair

Chrono-Synclastic Float

Our signature flotation experience. A specially calibrated sensory pool where, in the absence of external reference points, many guests report existing in multiple moments simultaneously. Ninety minutes recommended. Some stay longer without realising. Some stay longer while realising entirely.

$210

Gatherings & Occasions

Our calendar is, of course, somewhat arbitrary — we recognise all moments as equally present. Still, certain convergences are worth marking. These events recur, have always recurred, and will always recur.

Cycle I

Player Piano Concert Series

Evenings of music performed by our collection of antique automated instruments. No hand touches the keys — and yet the music feels deeply personal. A meditation on whether authorship requires presence.

Recurring
Cycle II

Cat's Cradle String Workshop

The ancient art of string figures, taught by master practitioners. Simple loops of string modelling truths about interconnection, mutual dependence, and the structures that hold everything together — until they don't.

Recurring
Cycle III

The Timequake Festival

A celebration of the moment when past and present converge — and everyone is compelled to relive their choices exactly as they were made. Three days of temporal workshops, communal dining, and the unsettling but ultimately joyful recognition that free will may not be what you thought.

Recurring
Cycle IV

The Sirens Gathering

An evening of music, cosmic reflection, and the quiet acknowledgement that the universe, while indifferent, is at least very beautiful. Formal dress encouraged. Our guides participate in their own way. Champagne reception.

What Our Guests Experience

★★★★★
"I didn't choose to come here. I don't think any of us do. But the dome was comfortable and the food was fine and after a while I stopped minding the observation. My companion was lovely. I think I'm still there, in a way. So it goes."
B. Pilgrim · Ilium, NY
★★★★★
"They brought me here to be with someone. I didn't understand at first. Now I never want to leave. The dome has everything. The sky is not the sky I grew up under, but it is beautiful, and I have stopped asking questions about it."
M. Wildhack · Los Angeles, CA
★★★★★
"I've written about places like this my whole career. Nobody believed any of it. The library here has all my books, which is more than any library on Earth can say. The trout in the creek seemed to recognise me. Exceptional breakfast buffet."
K. Trout · Cohoes, NY
★★★★★
"God bless you, Tralfamadore. God bless you. I have been to many places and spent a great deal of money trying to feel something. Here I felt everything, all at once, and it cost remarkably little. I wept openly in the Rosewater Dome and nobody looked away."
E. Rosewater · Indianapolis, IN
★★★★
"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be. I pretended to be a guest and now I am not sure I was ever anything else. One star deducted because the truth is never five stars."
H. Campbell Jr. · New York, NY
★★★★
"I knew I would enjoy this before I arrived. I know everything that will happen. The towels are adequate. The Chrono-Synclastic Float was pleasant, though I had already experienced it in advance. The champagne at the next Sirens Gathering will be excellent."
W. Rumfoord · Newport, RI

Arriving

The Journey

We do not publish directions. Each guest's journey to Tralfamadore is unique, and we prefer not to constrain the experience with specifics. Transport is arranged once your reservation is confirmed. Some guests describe the journey as instantaneous. Others recall a longer passage. A few are uncertain whether they have arrived yet.

What to Bring

Comfortable clothing, though we provide everything. Watches are unnecessary — you will understand why. Cameras are welcome but you will find that photographs taken here do not always correspond to the moment you believe you captured. An open mind is the only true requirement.

Duration

Stays are measured in nights, for convention's sake. In practice, time at Tralfamadore does not pass in the way you are accustomed to. Guests who book three nights sometimes experience what feels like years. Others step out of their dome and discover they have been here no time at all. Both are correct.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tralfamadore is where it has always been. Directions are provided upon booking confirmation. We find that guests who seek us tend to arrive. The question of "where" becomes less pressing once you understand our relationship with "when."

The journey varies. Some guests arrive before they depart. Others experience a passage of considerable duration. A few arrive mid-journey and discover they have been here all along. We recommend remaining open to the experience and avoiding rigid expectations about sequence.

Yes. Completely. Our community observes guests with genuine fascination and deep respect. You may feel self-conscious at first — eating, sleeping, bathing in full view. This passes. What replaces it is a feeling that most guests describe as the most profound of their stay: the experience of being truly seen, without judgment, by beings who find you endlessly interesting.

All observation is conducted with reverence. Our domes exceed all structural standards. The sensation of being watched is, we assure you, mutual and benevolent. Our guides are deeply committed to your wellbeing — they simply express this in ways you may not initially recognise.

Of course. Though many guests find the question becomes less urgent over time. Departure, like arrival, is arranged. You will know when it is time. Or, more precisely, you will know that "time" is not quite the right word for what you are experiencing.

Our guides are approximately two feet tall. They are green. They communicate through a form of perception rather than speech — you will understand them by looking at the eye in the centre of their palm. Guests consistently describe them as serene, patient, and possessed of a wisdom that comes from seeing all of time at once.

You have heard true things. The unusual quality is not in the things themselves but in your current frame of reference. This will adjust. Everything you have heard about Tralfamadore is happening, has happened, and will continue to happen. We see no contradiction in this. Neither will you, in time.
